What a Year... Looking Back at 2017

By any measure, 2017 was a great year for Nuance Energy and our AgWell Solar division. In no particular order, here are just a few of the highlights.

We formalized our partnership with Tabuchi Electric, which involved receiving a financial investment to help fund product development, Osprey sales and marketing, and our EPC activities through AgWell Solar in the CA Central Valley. This partnership also led to one the most gratifying experiences of the year: the donation of 10 complete solar+storage systems (Osprey PowerPlatforms with solar modules, and Tabuchi inverters and batteries) to the recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.

Disaster recovery is a new application for ground mount solar, made possible by our innovative earth anchor foundation system and how we can deploy and redeploy the asset directly from the shipping container. We expect it to become a significant market opportunity in 2018 and beyond.

We added considerable talent to our staff, including Jimmy Ryan as chief operating officer, Gregg Klang as vice president of business development and strategy, Stelli Munnis as senior director of marketing and Brad Thomas as senior project manager. We also hired an experienced public relations agency, Gallagher PR, which added three “virtual” members to the team.

Having a PR agency enabled us to place an article on the utilization of earth anchors for ground mount solar in the September edition of Solar Power World, and the article was even featured on the front cover. You can read it here.

Also on the marketing front were a complete redo of the Website and impressive results from our participation in two major trade shows: Intersolar and Solar Power International. The interest in and enthusiasm for Osprey at both shows waspalpable,and came from industry analysts, journalists andEPCsalike.

Having proved its worth in some demanding projects, we took the bold step of making the Osprey PowerPlatform generally available worldwide. Going global will present both opportunities and challenges for Nuance, but we are confident that we have what it takes—the technology, the talent and the financial wherewithal (not to mention the patent-pending protection!)—to be successful taking this important step at this time.

Finally, the combination of more aggressive marketing and general availability for Osprey helped fuel impressive growth with sales nearly quadrupling this year. Sales growth can also be attributed to AgWell Solar, which had its best year on record, surpassing previous sales by 10 times.
